Bandago, a van rental company, is offering its customers a chance to experience new customized vans.
For travelers with a passion for nostalgia, the Vintage Van offers a retro feel with colors and fabrics resembling the ‘70s. The Star Cruiser provides an upscale experience with top-of-the-line features including two LCD screens and heated captain’s seats with power reclining.
The two vans are launching in select markets with planned expansion into all nine Bandago locations.
The Star Cruiser Sprinter vans offer interior appointments such as elegant lighting, large heated captain’s chair seats with power reclining and leg rests, and pull-out desks.Technology features include two LCD screens, Xbox 360, outlets and plugs for laptops and phones near every seat, wireless headphones, a separate stereo for passenger area, an electric partition divider, and rearview backup camera, according to the company.

The Vintage Vans features classic, authentic vintage vans, decked out in colors, fabrics, and styling from yesteryear. Each individual van is unique, with customized exterior paint schemes and interior that combines the van’s retro feel with contemporary comforts and technology, according to the company. “When I was a kid in the ‘70s, the heavily customized vans [aka ‘Shaggin Wagons’] were the coolest vehicles on the road, so it is super fun to be able to offer these for rent,” said Sharky Laguana, Bandago’s founder and CEO. “Equally exciting is our Star Cruiser model which offers a truly upscale experience that is very reasonably priced. Both vehicles represent what I love about Bandago: providing great travel experiences on the road in vans that can't be found anywhere else.”
The company’s opening in Austin earlier this year was the latest expansion of the brand, marking its ninth U.S. location. Headquartered in San Francisco, Bandago also has operations in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York, Orlando, and Portland.
Bandago locations offer a selection of nine- to 15-passenger vans, including Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit and E-Series models. Vehicles feature several amenities such as Wi-Fi, video game consoles, power outlets, wireless headphones, and DVD players. Clients include touring bands and musicians, celebrities, families, churches, sports teams, mobile marketing events, and film/TV productions.
