Green Motion, a U.K.-based car rental company with an eco-friendly fleet, received a Green Apple Award for environmental best practice within the transport sector.

Launched in 1994 in the U.K., the Green Organisation honors environmental best practices in business and commerce with its annual Green Apple Awards. This year’s ceremony took place in London.

"We are genuinely overjoyed, not only to be nominated for the prestigious Green Apple Award, but to have won one,” said Richard Lowden, CEO and founder of Green Motion. “Myself and the Green Motion team work tirelessly in developing our company in order for our brand to provide a genuine option for private individuals (leisure customers) and companies to take the green option when hiring a car."

Established in 2007, Green Motion currently operates over 200 locations in 22 different countries, including Ireland, Greece, Costa Rica, Canada, Mexico, Serbia, Italy, the United States and the U.K.

“This rental company is a pioneer at the forefront of green travel options, with the lowest combined CO2 output of any rental fleet in the world,” said the judges at the Green Apple Awards. “They have sourced their fleet from the greenest cars available, to include many pure electric vehicles. They go further by donating to tree planting organizations in the South American rainforest and give greener driving advice to their customers.”
