DANVERS, Mass. -- Orion Systems announced that the Hertz Corp. has begun using the software provider's electronic contracts and signature-capture software solution. The product, Orion OnlineContracts, is now used at Hertz's major airport and downtown car rental locations throughout the United States.

Customers still receive a signed, paper rental agreement. However, Hertz's use of electronic signature-capture eliminates the company's own need for paper rental agreements, increasing efficiency and reducing costs. Hertz can maintain rental contracts electronically in a forge-resistant, tamper-proof format, Orion said.

OnlineContracts allows companies to electronically capture legally binding contracts and customer signatures in a secure process, resulting in an exact electronic version of the contract. This version includes all rental information, time stamp, initials and signatures, and look and feel, Orion said.

"With our software, Hertz has dramatically reduced the paper-handling processes -- shipping, scanning and archiving -- associated with rental agreements and has moved to an automated process," said Orion CEO Michael Movalli. "Orion OnlineContracts provides the same images traditional scanners create, yet with increased security, clearer definition in a fully automated way, requiring no human involvement."
