Hertz is suing Accenture, the company it hired in 2016 to redesign its website and mobile app, for $32 million, the amount the car rental group paid the company for its services plus other fees.
The site was originally supposed to go live in December 2017, but was later pushed to January 2018 and then April 2018.
In addition to deadlines being missed, Hertz alleges that Accenture ignored or refused to complete some of the main terms of the contract. While the redesign was supposed to be for the entire Hertz brand, including global brands and budget brands, Accenture only provided coding for the Hertz North America page. Additionally, Hertz claims that the websites Accenture designed did not include a tablet version, and was only usable for customers on desktop or mobile.
The lawsuit alleges that these, and other issues, were only offered to be fixed if Hertz paid hundreds of thousands of more dollars.
Hertz filed the lawsuit in the Southern District of New York and has requested a jury trial.
