In Memoriam: Ivan Pour 1929-2005
CHICAGO -- Ivan Pour, a retired national manager of daily rental sales for Chrysler Motors Fleet Operations, passed away Oct. 11, 2005 at age 76. Pour worked for Chrysler from the mid-1970s until the mid-1990s. He began his career in the automotive field with International Harvester, then moved to Dodge Trucks in the mid-1950s.
CHICAGO -- Ivan Pour, a retired national manager of daily rental sales for Chrysler Motors Fleet Operations, passed away Oct. 11, 2005 at age 76. Pour worked for Chrysler from the mid-1970s until the mid-1990s. He began his career in the automotive field with International Harvester, then moved to Dodge Trucks in the mid-1950s.
“He was the best known factory guy in the rental industry and highly respected,” said Roy Houston, retired manager, fleet general marketing for Chrysler Motors Fleet Operations.
A Czech native, Pour was a teenager during World War II. His industrialist father died while being forced to work for the Nazis. Following the war, Pour was sent to Lycee Carnot in Dijon, France, for education as a diplomat. He refused to return to Czechoslovakia; however, when the Communist party assumed power, and emigrated to the United States to live with an uncle, a Dodge employee in Ohio. Pour graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcelle, son and daughter-in-law, Ivan and Kathy Pour of Hamden, Conn., and daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Bennett French of Orlando , Fla., three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
