Crahan joined U-Haul as the marketing company president after an Oklahoma oil rig equipment company laid him off from his job as an offshore drilling supply specialist. He served as vice president of U-Haul International before gravitating toward zoning and government relations. Crahan was named vice president of Government Relations in 1974, where he served until 2014, transitioning into his retirement.

He was also an active member of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, the International Registration Plan, and other organizations. Crahan also served in the U.S. Air Force.

Jake Jacoby, TRALA president and CEO, remembers Crahan's sharp memory and guidance. Crahan's work with TRALA helped the organization achieve over 100 state legislative victories.

Pat is survived by his wife, Velva, and their four children, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
