This past June, Resort Rent-A-Car moved into its new Los Angeles location. Actually, the Payless location there, operated by Lloyd Rae, Jr., has become a Resort affiliate. According to Jerry Martin, president of Resort Rent-A-Car, “Lloyd is still an independent business man running his own business. We have an affiliation with Lloyd whereby we sell him reservations and he uses the Resort name, logo and livery.” Rae decided to affiliate with Resort Rent-A-Car for various reasons. One reason was the fact that, according to Rae, Resort specializes in leisure rentals and Los Angeles is the second largest leisure market in the world to Orlando. He also says, “After meeting Jerry Martin and Steve Johnson and seeing how hands-on they are, I realized that they were fully aware of what it takes to be a successful operator in this ever-changing industry.” “Resort is a small regional car rental company with a very hands-on approach by its principals,” says Martin. “In meeting with Lloyd, I could tell that he had a similar approach to his business and that we both catered to similar clientele.” Martin also comments that Rae has been running his current location for 19 years, which indicated stability and knowledge.
