National Helps Customers Bypass the Toll Booth
National institutes pilot toll payment program through Highway Toll Administration LLC (HTA) at Newark airport.
Starting October, National Car Rental’s Emerald Club members in Newark, New Jersey can bypass not only the rental counter, but also the toll booth.
Renters can choose to use the Toll Pass option by adding a per-day fee, plus the cost of tolls, to their rental agreement. After completion of the rental, they will be charged separately for any tolls they incur.
The pilot program is being administered by Highway Toll Administration LLC (HTA) and uses the E-ZPass electronic toll payment system, which cuts down on wait time at toll booths. It is National’s response to customer service surveys.
In addition to the first location at Newark Liberty International Airport, National plans to expand the program to other company locations, as well as to its sister company, Alamo Rent A Car. It will also offer the program to additional states.
