NG-Ride, Nigeria’s new peer-to-peer carsharing and rental service, currently has more than 300 cars in its fleet and over 900 rentals, according to a report by AllAfrica.com.

Launched in April, NG-Ride offers a marketplace for car owners to list their vehicles so users can rent the cars at a per hour rate, says the report.

“We are marrying the features to create a solution for Nigerians,” Osamede Evbakhavbokun, CEO and founder of NG-Ride, told AllAfrica.com. “We are bringing something purely Nigerian and close to them as well, that they can easily afford. So what we have done is bring the Avis and Uber models to create a solution for Nigerians.

NG-Ride features a variety of vehicles, including luxury cars like Bentley and Rolls Royce, says the report.

“For us, we are listing cars that are owned by individuals using their cars for regular businesses,” Evbakhavbokun told AllAfrica.com. “This makes the cars cheaper and the customers get value for money because the cars are cheaper and easily accessible.

Currently, NG-Ride is only available in Lagos. It comes with a reverse logistics feature that allows haulage operators to transport goods from any part of Nigeria back to Lagos, according to the report.
