Orlando Airport to Defer Airline, Car Rental Payments
The payments equal $5.6 million for car rental companies and are expected to be paid back starting this summer.

This week the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority approved deferrals for payments from airlines, car rental companies, and concessionaires as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The report said the airport will defer May rents and fees of $7.3 million from the airlines, $5.6 million from car rental companies, and $4.1 million from concessions in terminals. The deferrals are expected to be paid beginning in the summer.
According to the Sentinel report, some tenants described the deferrals as “a pittance” when they’re facing financial devastation.
The Orlando Airport, the 10th largest in the U.S., is facing extreme financial hardship as well: It saw passenger volume fall nearly 95% in March.
