The rental car fee collected by Illinois’ Quad-City International Airport will be increased starting Jan. 1, according to a report by The Quad-City Times. The fee will help pay off the airport’s new quick turnaround facility for its rental car companies.

The Rock Island County Metropolitan Airport Authority approved increasing the customer facility charge (CFC) from $3.30 per day to $3.85, according to the report. The fee is charted to customers who rent vehicles from the on-airport rental car companies.

Built in 2014, the turnaround facility consolidated the maintenance operations for all the airport’s rental car companies.

The money collected from the CFCs can be used for expenses related to the facility, including construction, debt service, infrastructure and the operational costs, Angela Burch, the airport’s finance manager, told The Quad-City Times.
