FT. LAUDERDALE -- R.I Heller and Company LLC, headed by former ANC Rental Corp. CEO William Plamondon, has acquired Atlanta-based Accent Rent-A-Car from longtime owners Ken and Will Pennington.
Gary Cody, previously with the Thrifty franchise in Atlanta, has assumed the role of operating partner.
R.I. Heller's core business is operational and financial advisory services. Plamondon founded the company in 1998.
Accent, which primarily serves the local retail market, has six locations in the greater Atlanta area. The purchase closed on May 20.
The new owners have already taken steps to update the company's fleet.
"We've brought in approximately 250 new cars," Plamondon said. "We're going to continue the strategy that [the Penningtons] had, which is to provide great customer service and focus on the local business."
