BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. -- The Association for Car and Truck Rental Independents and Franchisees (ACTIF) announced that Sandy Miller, chairman and CEO of Budget Group Inc., will deliver the keynote address at the Car Rental Show on Monday morning, Oct. 1, at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas.
The show, sponsored by ACTIF and Auto Rental News, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, through Wednesday, Oct. 3.
Miller, one of the industry's most respected leaders, first joined Budget in 1980 as a licensee operations manager. In 1989, Team Rental Group, as it was then known, sold all of its franchises except San Diego back to Budget Corporation. Miller then served as Budget's director of marketing, special accounts, until 1991.
From 1991 to 1994, he was vice president of Tranex Rental of New York Inc., which operated the Albany and Rochester Budget franchises. He also was vice president of Capital City Leasing Inc., which operated the Richmond, Va., franchise.
Miller has been in his present capacity as chairman of the board and CEO since April 1994. In 1993, he served as president of the American Car Rental Association. He also served as chairman of the Licensee Local Market Advisory Board for the Budget System in 1989 and 1990.
Miller was the proud recipient of the 1997 Enterprise Award given by The Chamber of Commerce, Daytona Beach/Halifax Area, in recognition of area firms and entrepreneurs who have contributed to the overall economic vitality and growth of their area. He was also honored as Florida's 1998 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in recognition of entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success through innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their business and communities.
