The world’s first dockless shared mobility company, ofo, is partnering exclusively with Enterprise Truck Rental as it continues to expand throughout the U.S. Enterprise trucks will be used to transport ofo’s fleet of over 40,000 bicycles across the more-than-30 U.S. cities where the company operates.

The partnership is expected to save ofo over $1 million in operating expenses annually.

“Operating locally is key to our success, and Enterprise’s extensive network and range of sustainable transportation solutions are well suited to our business model, particularly as we continue to grow and launch new products,” Marco McCottry, head of North American operations at ofo, said in a statement.

A global company that operates at the local level, ofo has dedicated teams who are responsible for overseeing its dockless fleets and ensuring that bicycles are properly parked, distributed, and maintained. The Enterprise partnership will extend as ofo expands its U.S. footprint, which is projected to reach 100 cities by the end of 2018.

Advancing Sustainable Mobility

Enterprise is always looking for strategic partnerships with public-policy leaders and key organizations who share an interest in advancing sustainable mobility. To date, ofo’s more than 250 million riders have reduced aggregate carbon emissions by over 3.8 million tons.

“Bikesharing has grown rapidly in North America and has provided an innovative mobility option that can both substitute for and complement public transportation… These promising findings show that bikesharing has notable potential to enhance urban mobility in a wide variety of North American cities,” Susan Shaheen, co-director of the Transportation Sustainability Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley, said.

Along with ofo, Enterprise partners with the Corporate Eco Forum, the Department of Energy’s Clean Cities initiative, the National League of Cities’ Sustainable Cities Institute and the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) – as well as travel organizations like the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) – to help incorporate sustainability goals into comprehensive, long-term local transportation planning.

“Like Enterprise, ofo realizes that sustainable mobility is the future of the transportation industry,” said Mike Pugh, newly appointed corporate vice president of Enterprise Truck Rental. “Our partnership ensures that the ofo team is able to focus on what they do best. We are excited to provide trucks to support the expansion of ofo’s operations.”
