Sixt Becomes 1st European Car Rental Company to Offer Electric Cars
Sixt has added the electric Citroën C1 ev`ie to its fleet in Denmark.
Sixt AG has added electric cars into its rental fleet in Denmark – making it the first mobility provider in Europe to offer its customers this modern, low-cost automotive technology.
The electric Citroën C1 ev`ie has a range of 100 kilometers (62 miles) as well as a top speed over 100 km/h (62 mph). The car is therefore ideally suited for city and short distance driving. The offer is already a hit: many internationally operating companies are using the electric vehicles from Sixt – including Vesta, the world’s largest producer of wind turbines.
Sixt is also the exclusive rental partner of the United Nations World Climate Change Conference in December 2009 which will take place in the Danish capital Copenhagen and include the attendance of numerous important political figures such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. President Barack Obama.
Sixt is also stimulating electric mobility in Germany – most recently through a cooperation with RWE. Both companies are highlighting the performance capabilities of electric vehicles for the public in eight major cities as part of the “RWE Autostrom Roadshow”. Attendees have the opportunity to test drive cutting-edge models such as the eRuf Greenster or the Tesla Roadster. Sixt is organizing the test drives. Over the course of the roadshow, select Sixt stations will be having recharging stations installed.
