Siemens AG, a global technology company, recently extended its partnership with SIXT to provide car rental and related travel services.

As part of the agreement through 2027, Siemens uses SIXT’s integrated mobility services, including passenger car and commercial vehicle rentals and ride services via SIXT ride. This enables Siemens employees to choose the most efficient mobility solution tailored to their specific travel purpose.

The extended mobility partnership between the two companies spans 11 countries worldwide. In addition to key European markets such as Germany, Austria, France, and Italy, the partnership also includes the growing U.S. market. SIXT now operates more than 130 branches in the U.S., including over 50 at major airports.

With the help of digital tools, SIXT can provide seamless pickup and return vehicle services for Siemens employees, especially at locations where rental vehicles are available directly on company premises.

To this end, SIXT has installed digital key boxes at selected Siemens sites across Germany, replacing manual key handovers at reception and accelerating the process.

“Since our first collaboration with Siemens in 1974, we’ve continuously worked in a strong and trusted partnership to develop new solutions that make business travel as efficient, convenient, and sustainable as possible,” said Vinzenz Pflanz, chief business officer at Sixt SE, in a June 16 news release.

Pflanz cited fully integrating vehicle booking, management, and billing into Siemens AG’s digital business travel systems.

Siemens AG employees can choose from a variety of vehicles from various manufacturers, models, and powertrains. The share of available electric vehicles – suited for short to medium distances – is growing and can be charged at any time using SIXT charge, the integrated charging solution within the SIXT app. This supports Siemens’ ambition to electrify its rental fleet and reduce travel-related carbon emissions across all areas of mobility.

“The steadily growing share of electric rental vehicles also supports Siemens’ strategy to make business travel emission-free by 2050,” added Albert James Kueng, head of global travel management at Siemens AG.
