Working with Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company, Hertz has announced the completion of solar power installations at Hertz Rent-a-Car facilities at Denver International Airport and St. Louis International Airport.

Additionally, solar installations are underway at Hertz’s Newark Liberty International Airport location, and construction at Hertz's John F. Kennedy Airport location is planned to start in 2015, says the company.

At the four Hertz airport locations, the total installed solar capacity will reach 1 megawatt of clean energy once completed, which will used to power Hertz customer service areas and other nearby Hertz buildings, according to the company.

The four new solar installations include 262-kilowatt solar panels at Denver International Airport; a 152-kilowatt solar system at St. Louis International Airport; a 299-kilowatt photovoltaic system at Newark Liberty International Airport; and a 318-kilowatt solar installation at JFK International Airport.

"Hertz has a long-standing goal regarding sustainable business practices, and these new solar installations play an integral part in fulfilling that commitment," said Todd Poste, Hertz’s executive vice president of supply chain management. “With Hertz's latest solar expansion, we will increase our renewable energy generation while continuing to reduce costs companywide.”
