Two Men Jailed for Stealing Catalytic Converters from Hertz UK Rental Vans

Alan Beck, 18, and Steven Eccles, 20, were sentenced to 13 months in jail for smashing into Hertz UK vans in England to steal more than $25,000 worth of catalytic converters.

Two men received a 13-month jail sentence for stealing catalytic converters worth more than $25,000 from 13 Hertz Mercedes Sprinter vans in January in England, TheBolton News reported.

Alan Beck, 18, from Leigh and Steven Eccles, 20, from Golborne, smashed into the vans at the Hertz rental location in Birchwood.

The police at the scene recovered three catalytic converters and found car bonnets open on all 13 vans, with exhausts and other parts scattered on the floor.

Both men have a history of stealing catalytic converters. Beck was also sentenced for a separate offense in November 2012. Beck and Eccles were sentenced at Warrington Crown Court after pleading guilty to theft.
