Tripiamo Brings Certified Driving Confidence Training For Car Renters

Driving abroad is one of the leading causes of death among international travelers, who are not used to new traffic patterns.

Tripiamo, a certified digital driving guide platform, has recently introduced safe driving content to help international travelers navigate traffic patterns and rules in various countries.

The videos and digital tutorials can help car renters prepare to drive abroad, enable car rental companies to reduce accidents, increase customer confidence in visiting foreign nations, and generate new ancillary revenue. Designed in collaboration with real driving instructors and verified by licensed driving schools, Tripiamo’s digital guides combine video-based learning with 360-degree driving simulations.

Founded by former Visa travel director John Cortese, Tripiamo evolved from firsthand experience traveling to over 60 countries and recognizing how unprepared many renters feel when driving overseas.

Tripiamo is a digital driving preparation program designed specifically for international travelers and verified by licensed driving schools in each country where it operates. Its self-paced, country-specific guides feature short, engaging video modules that help users understand local road rules, signage, and driving customs before arrival.

“Driving abroad is one of the leading causes of death among international travelers, and yet there’s almost no structured help for navigating all the challenges — different road signs and markings, cultural etiquette, tight roads, language barriers, and even driving on the opposite side of the road,” said Cortese in a Nov. 10 news release. “I experienced those same fears myself, traveling to over 60 countries, and I saw how costly these incidents are for the travel industry -- over $5 billion annually in delays, claims, and damages. I created Tripiamo to bridge that gap for travelers and the car rental companies that serve them.”

Cortese added that today’s travelers are venturing beyond tourist hotspots in search of authentic, off-the-beaten-path experiences.

“That’s how I like to travel too. With international rentals expected to double in the next decade, preparing travelers to drive safely abroad is becoming essential.”

Early partner data and benchmark comparisons reveal a 50% average increase in driver confidence and a 67% decrease in reported driving incidents, compared to published travel safety data. New revenue streams averaging $38 per rental for participating partners Tripiamo operates across six European markets — the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany — with plans to expand into additional regions in 2026.

The company partners with leading rental and travel brands, including Sixt, boutique firms such as Celtic Legend Car Rental, and multiple tour operators and travel insurers.

Tripiamo’s work has been featured in major travel publications, including Travel + Leisure GO and Afar Magazine.
