Two Wounded after Shooting a British Columbia Car-Rental Agency
Police say the suspect shot two customers at a Budget car rental office. The gunman was still at large.
A shooting at a Kelowna, British Columbia Budget car rental office left two men wounded on Jan. 26, according to the Canadian Press.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Constable Steve Holmes says the suspect walked into a Budget car rental office Jan. 26 and fled after shooting two customers. The shooting set off a police manhunt and forced a lockdown at several schools.
According to Canadian broadcaster CTV, the incident was gang-related. CTV reported one of the wounded men was wearing body armor at the time of the shooting and is now recovering from non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was not as seriously hurt, and has been discharged from the hospital.
Witnesses say up to six shots were fired and one man was hit in the face while the other was wounded in the back. They were taken to the hospital but their condition is not known.
The police called in patrol units, a dog team and a helicopter to try to find the gunman.
Eight schools in the area were locked down as a precaution but the lockdown was soon lifted.
