U-Save Car & Truck Rental, an international car rental brand, recently opened its newest franchise operation in Sri Lanka.

The franchise, located at the Colombo International Airport (BIA), has been acquired by local entrepreneur Samantha Kumar and his sons, who own a successful travel company serving domestic and international customers in the country. It will open by the end of the year.

The new U-Save Sri Lanka franchise will provide a full range of rental vehicles and services catering to leisure and corporate customers nationwide. With the addition of Sri Lanka, U-Save now serves customers in 27 countries across multiple continents.

"The [franchise’s] proven track record in the travel industry and deep understanding of the Sri Lankan market make them the ideal partners to introduce and grow the U-Save brand in this exciting destination,” said Richard Lowden, president of U-Save, in an Oct. 7 news release. “This expansion not only strengthens our presence in Asia but also enhances our ability to serve the needs of international travelers and local customers alike."

Sri Lanka lies southeast of India's southern tip, with the shortest distance between their shores about 35 miles across the Palk Strait. Its total land area is about 25,330 square miles.

The U-Save franchise will work closely with Sri Lanka’s thriving travel and tourism industry to provide rental cars to visitors and residents.
