With the Mobokey app, drivers no longer need to carry vehicle keys. They can lock/unlock, start/stop, and deactivate/active security on their vehicles – all through a smartphone app. Car rental companies can use Mobokey to allow on-demand rentals without a key exchange.

To help demonstrate the app’s lock/unlock and start/stop process, users have these videos using an Audi A3 and a Jeep Compass.

After creating an account on Mobokey (with an email address and contact information), a user enters its vehicle’s pairing key and master key.

With Mobokey’s proximity start, a driver can turn on the vehicle from a smartphone when nearby. When the Mobokey device automatically senses the Bluetooth of the smartphone, the vehicle will start at a set range. Once the user moves away from the car, Mobokey stops and locks the door automatically. The ranges can be set as per the requirement of the user, according to the company.

In push-start cars, the smart key is activated and deactivated, depending upon the user position. With the proximity start on, the app automatically activates the push-start button and unlocks the car’s doors when the user approaches the vehicle. Once the user moves away from the vehicle, it deactivates and locks the doors automatically.

Auto engine deactivation allows the device to disable a vehicle’s engine when the user is away. Mobokey can also activate auto engine security to secure the vehicle when parked, according to the company.

Additionally, Mobokey provides the “last parked location” feature. If drivers can’t remember where they parked their vehicles, they can check through the app.
