Rental fleet telematics provider RentalMatics announced on May 20 a strategic partnership with GeoInt, a technology company that transforms location and spatial data into business insights.

The partnership enhances visibility into on-road vehicle activity by integrating GeoInt’s advanced location intelligence capabilities into the RentalMatics platform, giving rental fleet operators clearer, real-time insight across their vehicle ecosystems.

In vehicle rental environments, speeding presents unique operational challenges. Traffic fines often surface weeks after a vehicle has been returned, creating significant administrative burden and avoidable costs.

Beyond the financial impact, unmanaged speeding accelerates vehicle wear and tear, shortens maintenance cycles, and increases overall fleet risk exposure.

By combining GeoInt’s Hyper Reverse Geocoder (HRG) with speed limit data from TomTom, RentalMatics’ clients gain highly accurate speed profiling and real-time alerting capabilities.

The HRG converts raw GPS coordinates into rich spatial intelligence. Rather than simply plotting points on a map, the technology interprets each coordinate within its geographic context, identifying the exact road segment travelled, the applicable speed zone, and the surrounding road environment.

The result is earlier visibility into speeding events, reduced operational risk, and more informed fleet decision-making while vehicles are still rented out.

Built for high-volume telematics environments, the HRG infrastructure processes more than 30,000 queries per second, enabling real-time spatial intelligence at scale.

“This isn't just about more data, it’s about turning speed events into actionable intelligence,” said Colm Brady, CEO at RentalMatics, in a May 20 news release. “Rental fleets operate very differently from traditional fleet environments. Vehicles change hands frequently, drivers vary from rental to rental, and operational risk exposure shifts daily. In this environment, timely and reliable insights are essential. Our partnership with GeoInt delivers enhanced intelligence for high-turnover environments while reducing operational risk.”

Francois Kruger, F&L Centre of Excellence Manager at GeoInt. added: “RentalMatics selected GeoInt for its data accuracy, scalable API infrastructure, and telematics workflows across international rental fleet operations.” The result is enhanced location and speed intelligence that helps rental fleet operators make real-time decisions and manage fleets at scale, he added.
