Avis, Budget Update Mobile Apps

Tata Consultancy Services has completed enhancements for Avis and Budget's mobile apps, including synchronized pricing to reflect customized preferences and insurance options.

Avis Car Rental and Budget Rent A Car have updated their mobile applications with help from Tata Consultancy Services, an IT services, consulting and business solutions organization.

According to Avis, the upgraded mobile apps provide customers with new functionality, including synchronized pricing across channels (e.g., mobile, social) to reflect customized preferences and insurance options and more available ancillary products for in-app selection.

Additionally, the apps process coupons and account information for the frequent traveler program surcharges, insurance and other add-ons in order to help customers see the total cost of the rental, says Avis. Other features allow customers to make, modify or cancel a car reservation, view past rental details, find rental locations, select car preferences and compare the existing and modified reservation data.

“Being a leader in mobile services to car rental customers is an important objective for us as we look to profitably accelerate our growth, while at the same time enhance the customer experience we provide,” said David Wyshner, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer for Avis Budget Group. “The work TCS has done over the last several months — on time, on budget and to scope — has been critical to our progress against this objective.”

Both the Avis and Budget mobile apps are currently available on the iOS and Android platforms. The Avis mobile app was also launched on the Microsoft Windows Phone and BlackBerry operating systems, says the company.
