Car Rental at Palm Springs International Airport Making Big Strides Since 2003
According to The Desert Sun, gross receipts for rental car companies increased 54% from 2003 to 2011.
Gross receipts for car rental companies at the Palm Springs International Airport increased 54% from 2003 to 2011, and so far this year the companies are seeing a 15% increase over 2011, according to The Desert Sun.
The increase is attributed to an overall increase in airport passengers due to more flights and additional airlines servicing the airport, as well as more events in the Coachella Valley. Car rental companies interviewed said the increases are not the result of higher rental rates but of the growth in development cited above by airport officials.
The article states that about 180,000 vehicles have been rented out of airport over the last 12 months.
