TORRANCE, Calif. -- Though many groups and associations have cancelled or rescheduled conventions in the wake of the terrorist attacks, the Car Rental Show will go on as planned. The show is set for Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

"Based upon recent polls, more than 90% of pre-registered participants are still planning on attending the Car Rental Show," said Sherb Brown, publisher of Auto Rental News. The magazine is cosponsoring the trade show with the Association for Car and Truck Rental Independents and Franchisees (ACTIF).

Because many car rental businesses are now struggling as a result of the public's crisis of confidence in air travel, many operators have expressed the need to meet with their colleagues to discuss possible solutions.

"We are now in the process of expanding the general sessions and the seminar/workshop programs to include round-table sessions where operators can share ideas on how to overcome the current economic issues facing our industry, how we should deal with them, and how to improve our individual businesses," Brown said.

For information about attending the Car Rental Show, call (310) 533-2561.
