Connect by Hertz, The Hertz Corporation's global car sharing club, has signed its first two university clients—Ohio State University and Pepperdine University. Connect by Hertz cars have been strategically placed around each university campus providing students, university faculty and staff an environmentally friendly, economical alternative to car ownership. The effort underscores Hertz's commitment to aggressively expanding its car sharing club, which was launched this past December.

"It's great to offer Connect by Hertz car sharing services at Ohio State University, the largest university in the U.S.," commented Mark P. Frissora, chairman and CEO. "We're also pleased to welcome Pepperdine University to the Connect by Hertz family. Expanding Connect by Hertz less than one month after its launch is a testament to the quality and confidence partners like Ohio State and Pepperdine have in the Hertz brand."

Approximately 10 cars will be placed on the campuses, available for use 24/7. The cars will be available to drivers 18 years and older with gas, maintenance, insurance and parking included in the hourly rate. Hertz was selected for its sophisticated technology, solid infrastructure and quality vehicles. In addition, Hertz's history of providing superior customer service and support to its partners was critical in the decision making processes of these universities.

University members will be able to join Connect by Hertz for free with rates starting at $8 per hour. All Connect by Hertz members will have access to cars in all Connect by Hertz locales, including New York, London and Paris.
