Dollar and Thrifty car rental brands are lowering the minimum age to rent a car from 21 to 20 years old in the United States and Canada. In Michigan, New York, and the province of Quebec, the minimum age to rent a vehicle will remain 18 for both brands as required by law.

Dollar and Thrifty want to attract younger renters and give more people the opportunity to travel. Dollar, for example, is known for being a trusted, dependable and affordable brand for family travelers. Thrifty, on the other hand, is recognized for the deals it offers leisure travelers who enjoy the gratification of saving in the moment for an experience in the future.
