The Wall Street Journal reported that eHi Car Service will launch an electric vehicle service in Shanghai, China with 200 electric vehicles by the end of 2013.
According to the Wall Street Journal, eHi Car Service Ltd. will launch an electric vehicle service in China to bring “green” car rental to the country. The new service is in response to China’s demand for 500,000 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles by 2015 and 5 million by 2020.
eHi, of which Enterprise Holdings holds a 15% stake in, said it has plans to deploy 200 vehicles by the end of 2013 and that the fleet could reach 500 by the end of 2014. The company's rollout will begin in Shanghai, followed by Beijing.
