Elephant Smashes Rental Car in South African Park
While on a self-drive safari in Kruger National Park, a bull elephant smashed a couple's rental car and flipped the vehicle over.
A bull elephant attacked a rental vehicle inside South Africa’s Kruger National Park last month. The renters inside the vehicle survived but one suffered from a leg injury. The elephant was euthanized.
While driving a rental vehicle from First Car Rental, the renters were on a self-drive safari near the N’waswitshaka Waterhole in Kruger National Park when the incident occurred.
According to the renters, they saw the elephant and thought they were following it at a safe distance. The elephant suddenly turned around, broke into a full charge and flipped the vehicle over, according to the renters.
After watching the video, public opinion seems to suggest that the tourists were in the wrong and followed the elephant too closely.
First Car Rental says it is investigating the incident with a legal entity.
