DFW Elite Auto Rental.com recently announced that old world-style cabs by London Taxis International will now be added to its luxury car rental fleet.

"It's a fun and wonderfully elegant car for a wedding," says Jennifer Knittel, business manager for DFW Elite Auto Rental.com.

"Seeing a London cab in Dallas is about as unusual as finding a cactus in a rain forest," says Ron Sturgeon, DFW Elite Auto Rental.com owner. "I usually drive a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, but nothing I've driven lately has generated as many questions and requests to pose for cell phone photos as our new London cab rental."

According to Sturgeon, the first question people ask is how DFW managed to get a London Cab as part of our luxury car rental fleet.

The LTI British taxi with black interior was originally manufactured by a company that has been making taxis in Coventry since 1948. London Taxis of North America, a company in Chicago, legally imported London taxis starting in 2003. It’s estimated that approximately 250 London taxis have been imported to the United States so far. The imported London cabs have been modified to be left hand drive and to comply with U.S. emissions standards.

The second question, Sturgeon says, is almost always, “Can we get the London taxi for my wedding?”

DFW is expecting the LTI to be among its most popular Dallas wedding car rentals this spring, along with the new Bentley GTC and Aston Martin V8 Vantage Convertibles.
