Avis Budget Group Inc. announced that customers of Avis Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car can now drive through electronic toll collection booths on toll roads in Houston using PlatePass, a service that allows renters to use the high-speed, non-stop toll lanes wherever the service is offered.

Customers utilizing PlatePass will be charged a usage fee of $2.25 per day that they use the system. Customers are only charged the service fee for days that an express lane on an EZ-Tag toll road is actually used.

After the rental car is returned, the customer’s credit card will be charged the accrued usage fees plus the actual amount of the tolls incurred during the rental period. Customers will receive an itemized listing of all tolls and charges by mail, and can also visit www.PlatePass.com to view and download an itemized receipt.

Vehicles in Houston or other markets where PlatePass is offered are “pre-enrolled” and are ready to use the toll system without any special request.
