According to CBS Philly, an investigation is underway following the death of an 11-year-old girl after a car accident in South Philadelphia on March 25.
Max Alejandro Drosi, 28, was suspected to be driving a rental car when he crashed into an SUV at the intersection of 8th Street and Washington Avenue after he ran a red light. The 48-year-old woman who was driving the SUV lost control of the vehicle and crashed into Captain Jessie’s Seafood — where a 25-year-old woman and her two children were then struck by the SUV.
Authorities say Drosi may have been distracted by his navigation system at the time of the accident, and that they will be checking cameras in the areas to investigate.
The 11-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene by medics while the mother and 3-year-old son were rushed to Jefferson University Hospital. A male employee was also hit by the SUV and taken to the hospital. All suffered injuries, but are in stable condition.
According to police, Drosi is being charged with homicide, homicide while driving under the influence, four counts of aggravated assault while driving under the influence and reckless endangerment.
