Qwekee has created a car-sharing platform that provides car rental companies the opportunity to test the car-sharing service without needing to set up their own system.

According to the company, the platform offers self-service rental for car rental customers, with the opportunity to evaluate how the traditional operation system can be modified.

Using Qwekee’s mobile app, customers can see the available cars in real-time on their smartphones. Upon arrival to the car, customers can unlock their vehicles via the app and begin using the service.

The car rental company determines the level and type of fees — per kilometre and parking or per minutes, according to Qwekee. The Qwekee system debits the agreed fee from the customer's credit card and transfers it to the rental company.

With the car-sharing platform, a car rental company can see the current location of its vehicle in real time — including its mileage and travel length — and can control the doors, the engine, and other parameters. A rental company can also determine whether the client can pick up the car traditionally in a company’s parking lot or freely within the city, according to Qwekee.

The platform supports over 400 modifications of vehicle makes and models. To use the service, a rental company only needs to order the GPS equipment from Qwekee, according to the company. The first unit is sent to free of charge. And based on instruction, the alarm technicians will install the system to the rental company’s vehicle. The car will be immediately visible in the Qwekee mobile app, according to the company.

“Recent research shows that the traditional car rental business is transformed through the self-service to the car-on-demand or car sharing business,” said Nerio Celkonas, founder and CEO of Qwekee. “The Z generation (current youth) perceive owning a car as a service rather than property; therefore, major car rental companies such as Enterprise or even direct car manufacturers [Daimler AG] are already offering these solutions.”
