Rent Centric , a provider of car rental management software and telematics hardware, has been selected to provide its car-sharing platform to Italy’s ShareNgo car-sharing service.
“We wanted to offer tourists and travelers a uniquely pleasant self-service vehicle rental experience,” said Matteo Gandolfi, ShareNGo’s director of operations. “These cars would be equipped with integrated navigation and car-share management technology that act as an automated tour guide and referral system for popular destinations around.”
Rent Centric’s car-share technology allows renters to scan a smart card over an RFID reader to unlock the car, says the company.
“We are very happy with the effort that Rent Centric has put forth to help make our vision come to life,” said Gandolfi. “In no small part, due to the advanced capability of the Rent Centric platform, almost immediately we saw public support through reservations and positive experience feedback of our business model. The Rent Centric team has been instrumental at providing the sort of flexible and capable infrastructure that allows us to make the process completely integrated and practically self-reliant.”
“When Matteo approached us with his business vision, we were very excited about the opportunity because we recognized that with the new manufacturing direction for vehicles to be as much electronic as mechanical, we are able to achieve so much in helping rental providers gain wide reaching service options that could not possibly be realized too long ago,” said Michael Youssef, president and CEO of Rent Centric, Inc. “The relationship between the Rent Centric management system and these peripheral elements is seamless and so the possibility of offering add-on billable and centrally controlled services such as Automated Tours, is practically infinite.”
