Safr to Launch Women-Only Rideshare in DC Area
The ridesharing platform, with a focus on women’s safety, will soon provide rides to women in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
Safr will be available in the D.C. area, Boston, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, and San Francisco by the fall.

Safr, a ride-sharing app geared towards making rides safer for women, is coming to Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, according to WUSA9.
The company, which launched in Boston last year, requires its drivers to complete comprehensive background checks in both criminal and motor vehicle history. From there, users are allowed to pre-select the gender of their driver/passenger through their app profile.
Additional features of the app include a command center, where rider routes are tracked, and in-ride security with the Safr SOS button, which allows riders to contact the company’s command center, police, or a predetermined emergency contact.
Safr will be available in the D.C. area, Boston, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, and San Francisco by the fall.
