Wheelz Car Sharing Reaches Four College Campuses in Los Angeles
Wheelz expanded its peer-to-peer car sharing service to students attending school at the Claremont Colleges, Loyola Marymount, Caltech and Occidental.
Wheelz, a peer-to-peer (P2P) car sharing service, extended to include four college campuses in Los Angeles, allowing students to share their personal vehicles. The service will be available at Claremont Colleges, Loyola Marymount University, Caltech and Occidental.
Car owners can post when their car is available for rent allowing others to reserve and access vehicles using either the Wheelz smartphone app or a Wheelz DriveCard. The DriveCard unlocks Wheelz cars without keys so owners and renters are not required to meet up.
Wheelz also offers a “permission” system that lets car owners select and approve each new renter.
The service piloted for students Stanford, UC Berkeley, USC and UCLA and the company said that due to the success of those programs, it plans to reach out to more campuses.
“Wheelz offers another way for our students to explore the region beyond our campus, pursue internships and take advantage of LA,” said Miriam Feldblum, VP and dean of dtudents at Pomona College. “Even better, it is a sustainable, affordable and accessible solution.”
