Hyundai Motor America is recalling 572,000 Sonata and Santa Fe Sport vehicles in the 2013 and 2014 model years so dealers can address an engine problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In these cars, machining errors during the engine manufacturing process may cause premature bearing wear within the engine. “Bearing wear may result in the engine seizing, increasing the risk of a crash,” NHTSA said on its website.

Hyundai dealers will inspect the engine, replacing the engine short block if necessary. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall is expected to begin May 19. Vehicle owners can reach Hyundai customer service at (800) 633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 162.
