car2go Expands to Include Stuttgart, Germany
car2go began operations in the southern Germany city with 300 smart fortwo vehicles.
car2go is now operating Germany’s biggest all-electric fleet in Stuttgart with the launch of its car sharing service featuring 300 smart fortwo vehicles in the Southern Germany city, according to a company announcement on Nov. 29.
Customers will be able to locate the nearest available car2go vehicle using their smartphones and can use their membership cards to unlock and lock vehicles. Registration for car2go will be free until the end of the year and all new customers will be credited 30 minutes of free driving.
car2go Stuttgart is operated by car2go Deutschland GmbH, a joint venture between car2go GmbH and the Europcar vehicle rental company. car2go customers who apply for a Europcar partner card will be able to rent vehicles at a discounted rate.
Daimler’s “moovel” mobility platform will also be a part of the fleet in Stuttgart allowing customers to use the app to compare different mobility options.
With its launch in Stuttgart, car2go is now available in 16 cities in Europe and North America.
