Peer-to-peer vehicle marketplace Getaround announced on March 5 the launch of Power Host, a program designed to support vehicle owners, or “hosts,” with fleets of two or more vehicles, the company said in a statement.

Getaround’s Power Host program integrates with the Getaround app that allows customers to book vehicles and unlock them, while the owner can track their vehicles’ locations. The program provides a $1 million insurance policy covering the host during trips.

The program includes account managers dedicated to onboarding hosts and 24/7 customer support for both hosts and guests. Getaround will offer a directory of parking spots reserved for hosts as well as data and analytics to pinpoint demand areas.

Dan Kim, Getaround’s chief operating officer, said Power Host fleet sizes have grown from an average of eight cars last year to 12 cars this year, with some Power Hosts having dozens of cars.

Getaround provided an example scenario: Kisean Smith, 26-year-old Getaround Power Host from Atlanta, has been a power host for two years and has 11 cars on the platform that are generating around $5,000 a month after expenses.

Getaround said it has seen nearly 80% growth in its geographic footprint over the past year and has launched in 26 new cities in the last three months. Today, Getaround operates in over 800 cities globally.
