Instead of renting a vehicle, the Hawaii Tourism Authority is offering tourists a list of alternative transportation options.
With a combination of Hawaii’s rental car fleet decreasing by more than 40% during the pandemic and a recent increase in travel, Hawaii is currently facing a rental car shortage.
Some hotels and resorts are providing guests with transportation to major sightseeing areas, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority. Additionally, some tour operators offer pick-up and drop-off options at designated hotels.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority also provides specific transportation options by island, including bus lines, shuttles/taxi services, rideshare options, carshare companies, and bikeshare/bicycle rentals.
