Khaled Shahbo has been announced as senior vice president for Europe at Enterprise Holdings, with immediate effect.

Shahbo, who takes the European helm of the world’s largest vehicle rental company and leading mobility player, has been appointed following the retirement of Mike Nigro after a 38-year career with Enterprise.

Joining the European operation from the UK and Ireland, where he has been senior vice since 2018, Shahbo has expanded the range and mix of services on offer from Enterprise, including the development of the Enterprise Car Club business and integration of the SHB Hire purchase into Enterprise’s Flex-E-Rent division to create one of the UK’s largest commercial vehicle rental companies.

Enterprise hopes to utilize this skillset as it looks to extend its shared mobility offerings and expand its extensive network of more 1,300 branches EMEA branches with operations in 48 countries.
Chrissy Taylor, Enterprise Holdings president and chief executive officer, says, "Khaled takes charge of our European operations at a very exciting time for both Enterprise and the entire mobility industry. The next era of sustainable, shared transportation is around the corner—and we have the expertise, leadership, technologies, and scale to help shape that future."

Shahbo added: "Rental and shared vehicles can be hugely beneficial for businesses and communities by providing them with affordable, convenient, and sustainable transport options. I look forward to working with city authorities on projects that comprise our fleet, branch network, bespoke technologies, and expertise as part of the next generation of integrated transport networks, which will make our urban areas better places to live and work. Our team is focused on developing shared mobility models and partnerships that provide customers with the right vehicle, in the right place at the right time."

Like many Enterprise executives, Khaled joined the business via its Management Training Program in 1991 at a branch in Southern California. He moved to the UK in 1994 when Enterprise first opened for business in Europe. Khaled ran several UK groups, including Scotland & Northern Ireland, and Southeast England, before becoming managing director for the UK & Ireland in 2015. He was promoted to senior vice president for the UK & Ireland in 2018.
