York Car Rental has opened a new location serving the Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The family-owned independent is taking reservations from its website and is an affiliate of Nextcar, part of NP Auto Group. York runs a shuttle from its location on Dixon Road that picks up and drops off directly at the terminals.
The company uses express technology that allows customers to fill out most of their information online so at the counter their contract is already printed and ready to sign prior to their arrival, said Michael Fathi, general manager.
Fathi said the company has lowered its mileage restrictions in response to the pandemic and has made its cancellation and alteration policies more flexible. “We are doing our best to work with our customers and meet their needs during this time,” he said. “We pride ourselves on our customer service, with agents working 24 hours a day — including weekends and holidays — to serve customers with care and commitment.”
In addition to insurance replacement rentals and local and airport customers, the company serves travel agents, airline employees, local governments, long-term renters, international travelers, and corporate clients from small and large businesses. The company also offers fleet management services for small enterprises as a cost-effective alternative to vehicle ownership, Fathi said.
York Car Rental was started in 2009 in Richmond Hill, Ontario by Fathi and his father to serve the insurance replacement market. After the airport expansion — the company’s second location — Fathi said the company has plans to expand to downtown Toronto by spring. “We are a company on mission,” he said.
