Eric Rothman has joined Empire Mobility as CEO. Rothman, an attorney and former banker, was previously founder, president & CEO of Fast Track Mobility, a large for-hire-vehicle rental fleet licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission in New York City.

Empire Mobility, formerly Empire Rent A Car, is a just-in-time van & truck rental company with an operational footprint in the tri-state area, headquartered in New Hyde Park, N.Y.

Empire is a 50+-year-old, family-owned and operated vehicle rental company, run for the last 20 years by Ian Kusinitz, son of its founder. Empire has pivoted from its origins as a car rental company to providing vans & trucks to retail customers, local commercial companies, global delivery corporations, and government entities. Accordingly, acknowledging its transformation and the industry’s constant evolution, it decided to rebrand to Empire Mobility.

Despite the challenging vehicle market, Empire has managed to grow its fleet by 150% in the last two years, with now close to 1,000 in service. “Even though we’ve been around for 50 years, we feel we are only just getting started,” Kusinitz said.

Empire plans to continue to expand its footprint throughout the Northeast and eventually to the entire Easter Seaboard. “Given Eric’s background and experience in scaling up a best-in-class rental and fleet management company, we felt he was the perfect addition to our family to take Empire to the next level,” Kusinitz said.

“I am incredibly enthusiastic about the current team, share their aspirational goals, and look forward to executing our plan,” Rothman added.

Rothman also recently rejoined the ACRA board of directors.
