As part of its mission to provide zero-emission car rental in support of its Drive Zero campaign, car rental company Green Motion is underway with the installation of charging infrastructure across its U.K. network, supporting its ever-expanding range of plug-in hybrid and full-electric rental vehicles, the company announced on Feb. 27.
Heathrow was the first location in the U.K. to have external free-standing chargers installed, with five already complete and 10 more in the works. London Gatwick has the first three of 10 installed in the handover area.
Green Motion aims for the majority of its locations to have at least two chargers to support each location's fleet. It hopes to have more like five to 10 at every U.K. location, with many other European destinations to follow suit.
Green Motion has been a leader in the provision of electric rental cars since 2011 when it introduced the Nissan LEAF to its fleet. It boasts one of the widest selections of hybrid and electric vehicles featuring models from Tesla, Polestar, Nissan, Renault, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes.
Founder and CEO of Green Motion Richard Lowden said: "This is another step in providing even better service for our customers that are choosing to go fully electric. It is fantastic to see our franchise network fully embracing the EV revolution and strive to be the leaders in the provision of hybrid and electric vehicle rental in their given market."
