Turo has launched a ChatGPT (GPT-4) plugin built on OpenAI to make finding and booking the perfect car easier than ever.

Turo data scientists and engineers spotted an opportunity for the company to leverage the industry-leading natural-language artificial intelligence (AI) system to create a more convenient and seamless car booking experience.

With the plugin enabled, travelers can tell GPT-4 about their travel plans, including desired vehicle type, location, and price, and the system will dive into Turo’s over 320,000 active vehicles made up of over 1,400 makes and models* to provide personalized car recommendations.

For example, a traveler can simply say, “I’m going on a trip with a few friends to Tahoe and need an SUV in San Francisco from May 1st to 10th. What do you recommend I book on Turo?” The Turo GPT-4 plugin would respond with a personalized list of recommended vehicles that match these criteria.

The Turo GPT-4 plugin follows the company’s partnerships with online travel agencies such as Kayak and credit cards, including AmEx and Capital One.

Using AI systems, such as GPT-4, fits with Turo’s commitment to pioneer technological innovation in the travel space. AI systems like GPT-4 can augment and advance the convenience of platforms like Turo for consumers, according to the company.

* Active as of December 31, 2022. We count the number of active vehicles as vehicle listings with at least one trip in the trailing 12-month period.
