Carwiz International is moving rental car operations into Armenia to capitalize on the country’s growing tourism industry, the company announced this week.
Armenia has been experiencing a significant boom in tourism. In 2023, more than two million visitors were recorded, marking a strong recovery from the pandemic.
The car rental market in Armenia has also been growing rapidly, with increasing demand from both international tourists and locals. Carwiz has not yet announced locations for their operations.
This surge is driven by Armenia's rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and a growing reputation for safety — ranked as the 7th safest country globally.
The country offers a unique mix of ancient history, vibrant culture, and natural beauty, making it an attractive destination for travelers.
For Carwiz International, entering the Armenian market provides an opportunity to offer its flexible business model oriented to the diverse needs of leisure tourists and business visitors.
“Our main focus has always been on adapting our business model to different markets and customer needs,” said Krešimir Dobrilović, CEO of Carwiz International, in a July 24 news release. “Armenia offers a unique opportunity to expand our footprint in a dynamic and rapidly growing market.”
According to online Encyclopedia Britannica: Armenia, landlocked country of Transcaucasia, lying just south of the great mountain range of the Caucasus and fronting the northwestern extremity of Asia. To the north and east Armenia is bounded by Georgia and Azerbaijan, while its neighbors to the southeast and west are, respectively, Iran and Turkey. Naxçıvan, an exclave of Azerbaijan, borders Armenia to the southwest. The country, which gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, has a population of three million.
In the last six years, Carwiz has spread its presence to 40 countries across five continents, providing more than 400 branches.
