Carwiz Rent a Car, a growing Croatian franchise, is expanding to Iceland, the northernmost country-island of Europe, with its new location in the capital, Reykjavik.
This will serve as a strategic hub for the entire island. A remote nation in the North Atlantic between Greenland, Norway, and the British Isles, it is home to one of the strongest sectors, tourism, which contributes 10% to the national GDP.
The ongoing increase in passenger traffic in tourism strongly supports the car rental business, mainly since road transport is Iceland's primary mode of travel, which lacks a railway system. The peak tourist season in Iceland, as in Croatia, is from June to August, with another peak in December just before Christmas.
With a population of about 360,000, Iceland is well-positioned as a layover point for flights between London and New York or Boston. This allows airlines to refuel midway and save weight compared to starting the journey with a full tank. Keflavik is the busiest international airport.
The Icelandic market and Carwiz Rent a Car franchise for Iceland is being acquired by Konvin Car Rental, whose founder and board director, Kristján Pétur Kristjánsson, emphasized that car rental is the best option for tourists looking to explore Iceland’s stunning nature and unique features. He believes the synergy with the hotel, also owned by Konvin, will strongly complement enhancing CARWIZ services in Iceland.
Krešimir Dobrilović, founder and CEO of Carwiz International, said this marks the company's continued strategy for developing and expanding the Carwiz Rent-a-Car brand. He is pleased with the strengthening of cooperation in Northern Europe and collaboration among CARWIZ franchise countries.
