Zipcar Partners With Uber On Daily Rentals
Following a pilot program last year, the companies are providing access to vehicles, including hybrids and EVs, in more cities nationwide.

The arrangement between Zipcar and Uber makes it easier for people to earn a living without owning a car while reducing the cost of vehicle access in urban environments.

Zipcar vehicles are now available by the day to drivers who work for Uber, offering more flexible access to a professionally managed fleet, the companies announced Aug. 28.
Zipcar for Uber Driver provides access to 24/7 on-demand, self-service vehicles while offering a diversified fleet, including hybrids and electric vehicles.
First piloted in select cities in 2024, Zipcar for Uber Driver is now available in more than 25 cities, including Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Baltimore; Boston; Chicago; Cleveland; Dallas; Denver; Detroit; Grand Rapids; Honolulu; Houston; Los Angeles; Miami; Milwaukee; New York; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Portland, Oregon; Sacramento, California; San Antonio; San Diego; San Francisco; Seattle; and Washington, D.C., with more locations launching in 2025.
Zipcar for Uber Driver enables drivers to earn a special daily rate and access electric charging, vehicle insurance options, maintenance, 24/7 trip support, and roadside service. To join, drivers can visit Zipcar for Uber, the Uber Vehicle Marketplace in the Uber app or on the web, and select Zipcar as the daily option.
The ability to earn via car sharing is a category of Zipcar for Business, a platform that provides enterprise and government entities, residential complexes, and small businesses with customized fleet management solutions. Zipcar for Business reduces the cost of owning, operating, and maintaining a fleet, helping businesses achieve their targets and reduce their carbon footprint.
The service enables business administrators to manage critical activities such as fleet distribution, driver access, booking on behalf of drivers, billing, and more, making it a more cost-effective and eco-conscious solution compared to fleet ownership.
“Uber’s Vehicle Solutions program is designed to help drivers secure a qualifying vehicle, so they can start earning on Uber quickly," said Amit Kulkarni, head of fleets and vehicles at Uber, in a news release. "Adding Zipcar to our vehicle solutions program has brought in a new dimension of flexibility and convenience for drivers who may prefer daily rentals."
