Top Rent A Car, a leading car rental company in Bulgaria and across the Balkans, added more than 1,000 new rental vehicles to its fleet for the summer travel season.

With this latest expansion, the company now has over 3,000 vehicles, making it a major car rental provider in Bulgaria.

The new fleet rental cars include more than 700 Renault Clio V models, as well as Peugeot 2008, Peugeot 3008, Citroën C3, Citroën C3 Aircross, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Tucson, and Ford Tourneo passenger vans.

All rental vehicles are late models and offer low-emission performance. A portion of the fleet consists of hybrid models that comply with the European Union’s environmental standards. The company added the Tesla Model S to tis rental fleet in 2019.

The average vehicle age remains under 18 months, ensuring high standards of safety, comfort, and fuel efficiency that are key considerations for leisure and business traveler customers.

Top Rent A Car, which has served the car rental industry for 20 years, holds an estimated 45% share of the Bulgarian car rental market, further underscoring its dominant position, according to a 2021 Euromonitor International report. Bulgaria, which lies in Eastern Europe, is a vital place for tourism and mobility in the region.

Top Rent A Car has offices in all major Bulgarian cities and at every international airport in the country. Although the company was founded and remains headquartered in Varna, more than 70% of its operations are concentrated in the nation’s capital, Sofia.

Among other company developments:

  • Last year, Top Rent A Car took a big step beyond Bulgaria’s borders by opening its first international office at Otopeni Airport in Bucharest, Romania. This marks a strategic milestone in the company’s development and lays the foundation for broader regional expansion across Southeast Europe.

  • All company offices along Bulgaria’s Northern Black Sea coast are now fully operational. Top Rent A Car handles more than 700 rental operations daily.

  • In response to the growing global trend toward sustainable transportation, Top Rent A Car launched a pilot project for shared electric bicycles under the TopMobility brand. Varna is the first city to offer this service, and so far, users have traveled over 200,000 kilometers (124,174 miles), saving tons of carbon emissions. The platform offers easy access via a mobile app for all IOS and Android users and continues to gain popularity among both locals and tourists.

  • Top Rent A Car has digitized many of its customer service processes, including the signing of rental agreements, the preparation of handover protocols, the verification of personal documents, and the option of online check-in, which allows customers to enter their personal data directly into their reservation themselves. This project improves customer experience and minimizes the possibility of human error.
